*Note: We currently don't have enough girls registered to make a U14 or U18 girls team. If your daughter is interested in playing U14 or U18, please contact the registrar, Laura Ford, so we can gauge if there's enough interest to build a team ([email protected]).
Why did I pay more money to register my child than my friend did?
There could be a couple of reasons:
1.) Your friend registered their child before you did and received a reduced rate.
- Player Registered in June: Early Bird Rate
- Player Registered in July or after: Regular Rate
The earlier you register, the less it will cost you :)
2.) Your child and your friend's child are in different divisions. Our U5-U12 teams play in both the fall AND the spring and they keep their uniforms. Our older divisions (U14+) only play one season and return their uniforms at the end of the season, and pay a reduced rate.
When does my child play/practice?
Our season runs for 6 weeks in the fall and 6 weeks in the spring. In the fall, first games are typically scheduled the first Saturday after Labor Day. In the spring, first games are typically scheduled the second Saturday of April. The games continue for 6 consecutive weeks.
Games are played on Saturday mornings for U5-U10 divisions. The U12+ teams travel to local AYSO regions to face off against their teams. These teams typically play on Saturday morning or afternoon. Your child's coach will provide a game schedule.
Practices are scheduled by your child's individual coach. All of our coaches are volunteers, and they are given the ability to choose a day/time/location for practices that works for their own work/home schedule. U5-U8 divisions typically practice one evening a week for an hour, although some U8 coaches prefer 2 practices a week. Our U10+ teams typically practice twice a week. Your child's coach will provide a practice schedule.
How will my child's coach contact me?
Our coaches typically contact parents through the email addresses provided when you register your child in Blue Sombrero. Coaches are given their player rosters for the fall season in late-August. Look for an email from your child's coach to introduce themselves and give details on their first practice.
PLEASE NOTE: When your child is placed on a team in our Blue Sombrero registration software, you will receive an automated email letting you know that your child has been placed on a specific team. You will receive a separate email directly from your child's coach with more detailed information.
How many games will my child play?
We play 6 consecutive games during the Fall season, and 6 consecutive games during the Spring season. All divisions that play both seasons (U5-U12) will play 12 games/year. Our U14+ divisions play 6 games.
Where does my money go?
We did a blog post on this - that's how common this question is! Get the breakdown of where your Registration Money goes HERE.
